How it works

From a buyer's call to your phone, automatically.

Every listing we place gets a BuyerLink™ line. It's the number buyers see on Zillow, Realtor.com and the other sites your listing reaches.

  1. A buyer finds your home onlineZillow, Realtor.com, Redfin and hundreds of other sites show your listing with its BuyerLink™ line.
  2. They call or text that lineDay or night, weekends and holidays included.
  3. BuyerLink™ matches your homeBy MLS number or address. If it's unclear, the buyer is asked once more, then our team steps in.
  4. You get the buyer's name and numberBy text and email, right away. The buyer gets a text with your listing link.

Why sellers love it

Talk to buyers directly

You get the buyer, not a referral. If they aren't working with an agent, you can deal with them yourself and may avoid paying a buyer-side commission.

No lead left waiting

Routing is automatic, 24/7, weekends and holidays included. Calls never sit in an office voicemail until Monday.

Your number stays private

You decide when to call back. Your personal number isn't published on Zillow, and the buyer still gets your listing link by text.

Typical listing line

Calls reach an office and wait for someone to call the buyer back, or the buyer is offered another agent.

BuyerLink™

The buyer's name and number reach you directly and automatically, around the clock.

What you receive

  • A text and an email with the buyer's name, callback number and the property they called about.
  • Voicemails and transcripts, when the buyer leaves a message.
  • One-tap links to reply, mark a call as spam, or ask our team for help.

Showing requests and offers come in separately, through your seller portal's showing and offer links.

Why your own number isn't on Zillow

Every MLS listing follows the MLS's rules. RMLS Rule 3.25 ("Personal Promotion and Contact Information in Public Remarks and on Photos Prohibited") says the public parts of a listing may only describe the property. They may not contain broker, seller or lessor contact information, personal promotion or branding, including in photographs. Other Oregon MLSs have equivalent rules.

Zillow, Realtor.com, Redfin and hundreds of other sites receive your listing through the MLS feed, which carries only those public parts. That's why no listing on those sites shows a seller's phone number, and why your listing looks exactly like every other listing there.

Where your contact details live

How a buyer’s agent reaches a for-sale-by-owner listing: MLS private remarks, then the seller’s contact info, then Agent Tools.
  • MLS private sections (agents only): your name, phone, showing instructions and offer instructions, which buyers' agents use to schedule showings and submit offers.
  • BuyerLink™: the line on your listing that sends buyer calls and texts to you, as described above.
  • Other inquiries: a Zillow message or a call to our office is forwarded to you within 24 business hours, per your listing agreement.
  • Your listing page on ByOwnerOregon.com: on eligible packages you can show your name and phone number there. That page isn't part of the MLS feed, so the rule doesn't restrict it. Turn it on in your seller portal under My Listing → Public Contact.

Why we edit contact details out of descriptions

A phone number, email address or website in your public remarks can get the listing flagged or removed by the MLS. The intake form asks you to leave contact details out of the description, and our team removes them if they slip through.

BuyerLink™ questions

What is BuyerLink™?

BuyerLink™ is the phone line on your listing on Zillow, Realtor.com and other sites. When a buyer calls or texts it, BuyerLink™ matches the call to your home by MLS number or address and sends you the buyer's name and number by text and email right away. The buyer gets a text with your listing link.

Does BuyerLink™ work nights and weekends?

Yes. Routing is automatic, 24/7, including weekends and holidays. A buyer's call never waits for someone in an office to pass it along.

Can I sell directly to a buyer who doesn't have an agent?

Yes. BuyerLink™ connects you with the buyer directly, so you can talk with them yourself. If the buyer isn't working with an agent, you may avoid paying a buyer-side commission. A buyer can still choose to hire an agent, and any buyer-agent compensation is always your decision.

Why doesn't my own phone number appear on Zillow?

MLS rules prohibit seller contact information in the public parts of a listing, and Zillow, Realtor.com and other sites receive only those public parts through the MLS feed. That's why no listing on those sites shows a seller's phone number. Your contact details are in the private MLS remarks that agents see, and BuyerLink™ handles calls from buyers.

What about messages that don't come through BuyerLink™?

Inquiries that arrive another way, such as a Zillow message or a call to our office, are forwarded to you within 24 business hours under your listing agreement. You get an email (and a text, if enabled) plus the details in your seller portal.
